CanD’s Kitchens Harvest Table was expanded with the arrival of Chef Blanche in early 2016. One of her most valuable contributions was her Beef Lasagne. As one of Tummy Love Food Co.’s most beloved freezer meals, our Beef Lasagne is one of our top dishes.

A rich and absolutely delectable layered meat & tomato sauce, pasta and Bechamel dish, you can never go wrong serving this for family or entertainment events. Lasagne’s origin is from Naples, Italy. Traditionally made with a combination meat ragu, cooked in tomato and layered with pasta sheets and bechamel or ricotta cheese. As in most countries, most traditional dishes from other countries are adapted. In South Africa we have adapted the traditional Italian Lasagne to using minced beef, Lasagne pasta Sheets and a bechamel or cheese sauce, still layered in the traditional way and as delicious as can be.

This is a hearty and filling dish and is absolutely delicious served with a Green/Greek Salad, and do not forget the garlic bread. Nothing more satisfying than collecting those last morsels of Lasagne with a fresh piece of garlic bread. One of Chef Blanche’s further contributions to this dish, is serving Lasagne with a wedge of lemon, enhancing the meat and bechamel combination and bringing out the absolute best of this beloved meal!
