One of CanD’s Kitchen‘s all-time favourite dishes is our Beef Cottage Pie. Tummy Love Food Co. proudly adds this delightful meal to our freezer meal collection.

The term “cottage pie” originated in the late 18th century. At that time, poorer people in Britain, who lived in cottages, began using potatoes as a staple food. Originally, people called any pie made with meat and topped with mashed potatoes a “cottage pie.”  This humble dish has long been a favourite in South African winter diets and will remain so for years to come.

Our Beef Cottage Pie features 90/10 beef mince, sautéed with onions, garlic, sweet carrots, and tender peas. We enhance the flavour with our homemade chicken stock. We top the pie with a rich, fluffy mashed potato infused with butter, garlic olive oil, nutmeg, white pepper, and salt. Each pie is perfectly portioned and sprinkled with delicious cheddar cheese.

Beef Cottage Pie offers a delightful meal that satisfies a variety of tastes and flavour palettes. For a light pairing, enjoy it with a fresh Greek salad. For the perfect winter dinner, serve it with oven-roasted vegetables. Enhance your experience with a bit of chutney or, for adventurous eaters, a few drops of Tabasco.
